Today, you can plan almost any trip yourself. You can search hundreds of hotels, compare flights, read thousands of reviews, ask AI to build an itinerary, book excursions online, and buy travel insurance without ever speaking to another person.

So do you really need a travel advisor?

The honest answer is: not everyone does.

Some People Prefer to Plan Everything Themselves

Some people genuinely enjoy planning every part of their trip. They like comparing flights, reading hotel reviews, researching excursions, and building the whole experience piece by piece. If that’s you, and you enjoy the process, you may not need a travel advisor at all. And that’s completely fine.

My clients usually come to me for a different reason. They want a great trip, but they don’t want travel planning to become another full-time job. Because more information doesn’t always make decisions easier. Sometimes it does the opposite.

Too Many Choices Can Become Overwhelming

Imagine you’re planning a special anniversary trip. You start looking at hotels, and suddenly you have 20 tabs open. One review says a resort is amazing. Another says it needs updating. Someone on social media recommends something completely different. You find a beautiful room, but you’re not sure if the upgrade is worth it. Then there are flights, transfers, excursions, restaurants, and insurance.

What started as something exciting slowly becomes another project.

This is where I come in. I take the time to understand how you actually like to travel. What matters to you, and what doesn’t? Do you want to relax or explore? Do you care about food, beaches, privacy, activities, or a mix of everything? Those details matter more than most people realize, because the right trip for one person can be completely wrong for another.

I Don’t Just Book Trips. I Make Sure They’re the Right Ones.

I personally visit many of the destinations and resorts I recommend. And when I haven’t been somewhere myself, I work with trusted Destination Management Companies and local partners who know their destinations inside and out.

When I travel, I’m not just looking at whether a resort is beautiful. I’m paying attention to how it feels, because that’s what my clients will remember. What is the arrival experience like? How does the service feel? Is the atmosphere quiet and refined, or more social and energetic? Who would feel completely at home here, and who would not?

Sometimes I can walk into a resort and immediately think of specific clients who would love it. And just as clearly, I can walk into a beautiful resort and know it would be completely wrong for someone else. That level of clarity doesn’t come from reviews or algorithms. It comes from experience, context, and understanding people, not just properties.

And Then There Are the Things You Can’t Plan For

Flights get delayed. Weather changes. Transfers get missed. Rooms aren’t what someone expected. Things happen.

This is one of the biggest reasons my clients value having me in their corner. My relationship with you doesn’t end when the trip is booked. I’m there before you leave, while you’re traveling, and until you’re home. And when something does go wrong, my first thought is always how we fix it for my client.

I advocate. I make the calls. I work with my partners. I help solve the problem. You’re not left trying to figure it out alone in a place you don’t know.

Technology Is Wonderful. Relationships Still Matter.

I use technology too. It’s made travel planning faster and more accessible than ever. But technology doesn’t know you. It doesn’t remember what you loved about your last trip. It doesn’t know that you prefer quiet over crowds, that you hate changing hotels every two nights, or that you want luxury without formality.

That’s the difference. My job isn’t to give you more information. You already have that. My job is to listen, guide, simplify, and make sure the choices you make actually fit you. And while you’re traveling, you can relax knowing someone is in your corner.

Final Thought

A travel advisor isn’t for everyone. If you love planning every detail yourself, you may never need one. But if you want someone to help you make the right choices, and stand behind you when it matters, that’s exactly what I do.

Because a great trip isn’t just about where you go. It’s about knowing it was the right one for you from the very beginning.
