As a travel advisor, I get to experience a lot of beautiful places. But every once in a while, I find one that stays with me long after I come home.

For me, that place is Palmaïa, The House of AiA.

I first learned about Palmaïa, The House of AiA in Mexico’s Riviera Maya during a webinar with the resort team. The idea immediately caught my attention. An all-inclusive resort with beautiful accommodations and incredible food, but also a completely different approach to wellness. Meditation, pranayama, yoga, sound baths, cacao ceremonies, and other experiences were already part of the stay.

It sounded different from anything I had experienced before. I wanted to see for myself.

Since that first visit, I have returned several times, brought groups of wonderful women with me and every time I discover another reason to love it.

It Is How Palmaïa Makes You Feel

Yes, the beach is beautiful. The sand is soft, the water is turquoise, and there is plenty of space to find a quiet spot.

The food is also incredible. Breakfast at Su Casa became one of my favorite parts of the day. Sitting just steps from the ocean with coffee, fresh fruit, avocado toast, matcha waffles, or mango chia pudding, it is very easy to linger much longer than you planned.

But those are not the reasons I keep going back.

It is the feeling.

One of my favorite memories is waking up early for morning pranayama by the ocean. There is something very different about practicing breathwork as the sun is rising, feeling the breeze on your face and listening to the waves. You stop thinking about what you need to do next and simply become present in that moment.

Palmaïa also introduced me to experiences that became part of my life after I came home. I discovered sound baths and gong baths there and learned new breathing techniques that I continue to explore today.

My first cacao ceremony was especially meaningful. I unexpectedly found myself with tears rolling down my face. Nothing was wrong. I simply felt so many emotions at once, and it was difficult to explain.

That was one of the moments when I thought, I need to bring more people here.

A Different Kind of Luxury

Palmaïa is luxurious, but not in the traditional sense of luxury being about chandeliers, formality, or being surrounded by people dressed for dinner.

The luxury here is having space.

It is waking up without rushing. Having breakfast overlooking the Caribbean. Choosing between yoga, meditation, a gong bath, or simply spending the afternoon on the beach.

Palmaïa intentionally keeps the resort at around 70% capacity, which is one of the reasons it always feels so peaceful and uncrowded. Even when other guests are there, there are moments when it feels like you have your own little corner of paradise.

The plant-based dining is another part of the experience. And I say this as someone who loves meat and potatoes. I rarely felt the need to add protein because the food was that good. For guests who do want it, protein can be added to many dishes.

Is Palmaïa Right for You?

This is something I always tell my clients: a wonderful resort is only wonderful if it is the right resort for you.

If you want a lively party atmosphere and vibrant nightlife, I would not recommend Palmaïa.

But if you are craving beautiful surroundings, exceptional food, meaningful wellness experiences, and the opportunity to slow down and reconnect with yourself, Palmaïa is very special.

No photograph or resort description can completely explain how it feels to be there. And perhaps that is exactly why I keep going back.

Some places give you a beautiful vacation. A few leave you feeling a little different when you come home. Palmaïa did that for me.

If Palmaïa sounds like the kind of experience you have been craving, I would love to help you plan it. And if it is not quite right for you, that is exactly the kind of thing I help my clients figure out too.
